Neighborhood Spotlights by Rebecca White – Castro
Affectionately dubbed “The Gay Village” or the “The Gay District”, this neighborhood is home to quite a number of San Francisco’s LGBT community. It’s colorful locals, vibrant shops and multitude of bars/restaurants and rich history makes it one of the city’s top tourist destinations. Breathe in the historic San Francisco vibe as you stroll past Victorian homes-some of which are remodeled on the inside but in their original exteriors.
Rebecca’s Take: Castro District. What’s not to love? Family-Friendly Noe Valley and Alamo Square are around the corner. So is up and coming, hip and popular with the younger crowd Mission. Attractions: The 18th St strip, Castro Theatre
